The Newell Public Library provides materials and services to help meet the informational, educational, and recreational needs of all residents of the community and the surrounding areas to stimulate lifelong learning.

The Newell Public Library building was built in 1982 and dedicated to C.J. Hunter,  lifetime resident of the Newell area and to all others who contributed to its realization. In memory of Horace Sidney Hunter, Civil War Veteran and Newell area pioneer.
